General information

Symptoms

Creaking/clicking noises from the A-pillar area.

Causes and remedial action

Relative movements and direct contact between the hinge pillar and upper front wheel housing can cause creaking/clicking noises.

If a complaint is received in relation to vehicles manufactured before the date of introduction May 2006, all contact between the cut edge of the hinge pillar and the transition area of the wheel housing flange must be eliminated by bending the cut edges apart.

1. Remove front door.
2. Press pin out of the plastic expansion rivet -1- and remove masking panel -2- from the wing -3-.

1. Position a screwdriver between the cut edge of the hinge pillar and wheel housing and tap it in approx. 10 mm with a hammer.

2. Widen the gap between the cut edges by turning the screwdriver.

Subsequent work

Subsequent work

1. Spray the cut edge with cavity preservation.
2. Position masking panel -2- on the wing -3-.

3. Press in plastic expansion rivet -1- and secure with the pin.
4. Install front door.
