Technical values







Preliminary work

1. Raise the vehicle.

2. Remove front wheels.

3. Remove front cover (underbody protection) -> 519219 Removing and installing front cover 519219 Removing and installing Cover For Front Underbody.

Removing front stabiliser

1. Loosen the two connecting links (suspension/stabilisers) at the anti-roll bar.
2. To remove and install the anti-roll bar, lower the front-axle cross member slightly at the front (approx. 50 to 60 mm/similar procedure as for removing and installing steering gear).

Support the front-axle cross member with a hydraulic lift while lowering it (use a hard rubber base or wooden block: -see illustration- ).

3. Detach the anti-roll bar (on both sides) -arrows-.
Turn the anti-roll bar as required and remove it sideways (to the left or right).

Installing front stabiliser

1. Install front stabiliser.
Replace all lock nuts. Observe correct tightening torques. -> 4001TW Tightening torques for front axle 4001TW Tightening torques for front axle.
1.1. Insert the anti-roll bar into the vehicle (guide in sideways) and position it.
1.2. Secure the anti-roll bar (on both sides) -arrows-.

2. Position and secure the front-axle cross member.

3. Secure the two suspension/stabilisers (connecting links) at the anti-roll bar. Always tighten the connecting links (suspension/stabilisers) in three steps!
3.1. Fit new M10 collar nuts on the connecting link joint (at the left and right). Counter when tightening. Observe three-step tightening procedure.
Step 1:=> Initial tightening torque: 50 Nm (37 ftlb.)
Step 2:=> Loosen by 1/4 turn after initial tightening: Loosen by 90°
Step 3: Tighten to 65 Nm (48 ftlb.). => Final tightening torque: 65 Nm (48 ftlb.)



Subsequent work

1. Mount front wheels.

2. Fit front cover (underbody protection) -> 519219 Removing and installing front cover 519219 Removing and installing Cover For Front Underbody.
3. Adjust the toe. Calibrate the steering-angle sensor if necessary.
