Installing hydraulic unit for rear lid

Installation position of hydraulic unit for rear lid

CAUTION

Risk of damaging the oil pressure lines.

- Leaks and malfunction in the hydraulic system.

-> Do not bend, trap or crush oil pressure lines during installation.
-> Pay special attention when routing the oil pressure lines in the supports, noting the red and blue coloured rings.
-> Oil pressure lines must not cross.

Information

Two people are needed for steps 1 to 5.

1. Connect oil pressure lines -1 and 2- onto the hydraulic unit -3- ( -arrows- ) until the plug-in couplings -4- engage securely.

Connecting oil pressure lines

2. Push plug connection together -1- at the hydraulic unit -2- ( -arrows- ) until the plug connection -1- engages securely.

Connecting plug connection

3. Bleed the hydraulic system.
3.1. Hold the hydraulic unit horizontally while bleeding it.
3.2. Lower transmission jack slightly and push to the side.
3.3. Open and close the rear lid 2-3 times automatically.
The system has a self-bleeding feature. Several operations will bleed the system. After bleeding check the hydraulic oil level in the hydraulic unit's reservoir, correct if necessary. -> 556719 Removing and installing rear lid hydraulic unit - section on "Information"
4. Open the rear lid.
5. Place hydraulic unit -1- into the lower part of the sound capsule -2- , route wire harness -3- and position upper part of sound capsule -4- ( -arrow- ).

Installing hydraulic unit

Information

In order to prevent noises, the catch of the tie-wrap must be located on top of the sound capsule.

6. Insert sound capsule -1- with the hydraulic unit into the holder -2- ( -arrow- ) and secure loosely with a tie-wrap -3- so that the sound capsule is pressed together slightly.

Installing hydraulic unit

7. Position holder -1- with the hydraulic unit on the body -arrow- and screw down using the fastening nuts -2-. => Tightening torque: 9.7 Nm (7.0 ftlb.)

Installing holder

8. Clip plug connection -1- into the retaining clip -arrow-.

Clipping in the plug connection

Information

When routing the oil pressure lines, ensure that the oil pressure lines lie against the edge in the area of the piping -6- or rubber strips -7-.

9. Secure lines.

Securing lines

9.1. Clip oil pressure lines -2 and 3- flush (colour marking) into the holders -4- ( -arrows A- ).
9.2. Clip water drain hose -1- into the holder -5- ( -arrow B- ).
10. Insert rear lid control unit -1- into the holder -2- from below and press in -arrow A- until the two clips engage securely -arrows B-.

Installing rear lid control unit

Information

- Only for vehicles without auxiliary air conditioner.

Position package box -2- on the body -arrow- and secure with the fastening screws -1-.

Installing package box

General information on the hydraulic unit

Checking hydraulic oil level

1. Hold hydraulic unit horizontally and check hydraulic oil level at the reservoir using the cross hairs marking.
The hydraulic oil level must not drop below the minimum mark.

Checking hydraulic oil level

2. A hydraulic oil level that is too low must be adjusted accordingly.

Filling hydraulic unit

Information

- When filling the hydraulic system, proceed with utmost care to ensure dirt does not get into the system.

- Before unscrewing the screw plug, place a cloth underneath the hydraulic unit to catch emerging hydraulic oil.

- The hydraulic unit for the rear lid uses a closed hydraulic system. In general, the hydraulic system will need to be filled only if the hydraulic circuit was opened (after parts replacement). Only Genuine Porsche hydraulic oil must be used when changing or topping up the hydraulic oil.

1. Fill hydraulic unit.

Filling system

1.1. Unscrew screw plug -1-.
1.2. Fill hydraulic unit -2- as far as the cross hair marking with Genuine Porsche hydraulic oil -3-.

Information

When screwing in the screw plug -1-, ensure that the seal -4- is touching the screw head.

1.3. Screw in screw plug -1-. => Tightening torque: 1 Nm (0.5 ftlb.)+/-0.3 Nm (+/-0.2 ftlb.)

Replacing plug-in couplings

Removing plug-in couplings
1. Remove hydraulic unit. -> 556719 Removing and installing rear lid hydraulic unit - section on "Removing"
