Preliminary work

1. Remove engine compartment trim panels at the left and at the centre plenum panel. For details, see -> 700219 Removing and installing front trim (engine compartment) Service and Repair

Removing hall sender

Information

- Mark hall sender cable plugs according to position of intake and outlet camshafts.

- Have a mirror and lamp to hand in case the installation position is difficult to see.

1. Pull off cable plugs on camshaft hall senders. Use special tool assembly tool T10118 or an angled piece of wire for this purpose.
2. Unscrew the fastening screws on the hall senders -2- and carefully remove the hall senders.

Installing hall sender

Information

- Check sealing ring on hall sender and replace complete hall sender if sealing ring is defective.

- Make sure not to confuse the connectors for the intake and outlet camshafts.

1. Move hall sender into installation position and insert it into the upper timing chain case. Screw in fastening screws hand-tight. Tightening fastening screws. => Tightening torque: 10 Nm (7.5 ftlb.)
2. Plug in cable plugs on camshaft hall senders.
