Preliminary work

1. Remove rear-view mirror. -> 668919 Removing and installing rear-view mirror - section on "Removing"

1. Remove insulation on mirror base -arrow-.

2. Fold in door mirror.
3. Press locking tabs on upper mirror housing apart with a screwdriver -arrows A- and remove upper mirror housing to the rear -arrows B-.

4. Open the locking tabs (arrows A) and remove the plug connection.

Information

Only for vehicles with a light in the rear-view mirror.

5. Push the plug connection back -arrow A- and remove it from the bracket -arrow B-.

6. Release plug connection -arrow C- and disconnect it -arrows D-.
7. Pull the plug connection for the flap motor out of its installation position -arrow A- and disconnect it -arrows B-.

8. Pull the connector off the mirror adjustment motor -arrow-.

9. Push the wiring through the mirror base -arrow A- and pull it out at the front -arrows B-.





Removing wiring

Information

- When technical modifications are made, wiring colours on plug connections may change. Therefore, before removing the connector contacts from the connector or the connecting socket, do not forget to make a note of the installation position and the colours of the individual wires.

10. Press out plug contacts from connector housing using press-out and unlocking tools for flat and round plug connections of every size NR.155 -a- ( -arrow A- ).

11. Press the plug contacts out of the connector housing using press-out and unlocking tools for flat and round plug connections of every size NR.155 -arrow B- (only for vehicles with a light in the rear-view mirror).
12. Lever out the fuse using a small screwdriver -arrow A- and remove it -arrows B-.

13. Release the plug contacts and remove from the combination connector -arrow C-.
14. Press in the locking tabs on the cover using a screwdriver -arrows A- and remove the cover -arrow B-.

15. Push the wiring harness down through the joint -arrow A-.

16. First pull the wiring down -arrow B- and remove it at the mirror base -arrow C-.

Installing wiring harness for rear-view mirror

1. Tie the wires for mirror heating -b- , flap -c- and positioning motor -d- together using fabric or insulating tape -A-.

2. Fold back wires for flap and positioning motor -arrow B- and secure to wiring harness with fabric or insulating tape -C-.

Information

- To minimise the thickness of the cable, tighten the wires at different places on the wiring harness.

3. Slide the wiring harness for the mirror-heating wires from the inside through the mirror base -arrow A-.

4. Pull the wiring harness downwards -arrow B- , then up and out through the flap joint -arrow C-.

- When connecting the plug contacts, make sure the order of the wires is correct in the combination connector.

5. Insert the wires 1 - 7 for the positioning motor into the combination connector -arrow A- until the plug contacts are felt to engage.

6. Press in the fuse -arrows B- until you feel the locking tabs engage.

Information

The wires -10- and -11- are only available for vehicles that have a light in the rear-view mirror.

7. Insert the wires for the flap motor into the combination connector until the locking tabs of plug contacts -8 and 9- are felt to engage -arrows B-.

8. Insert the wires -10 and 11- until you feel the locking tabs engage.
9. Push the wiring through the mirror base -arrows A- and pull it out at the inside -arrow B-.

10. Connect the connector on the mirror adjusting motor -arrow- until the connector lock is felt to engage.

11. Push together plug connection for fold-in motor -arrows A- and press onto adhesive point of mirror holder -arrow B-.

12. Push plug connection together -arrows A- until the locking lug -arrow B- is felt to engage.

13. Insert the plug connection into the holder -arrow C- until it is felt to engage.
14. Engage the cover and fold upwards -arrow A- until the locking tabs -arrows B- are felt to engage.

15. Engage upper mirror housing in lower mirror housing -arrow A- and fold onto mirror cover -arrow B- until the locking tabs -arrows C- are felt to engage.

16. Install insulation on mirror base.

Subsequent work

1. Install mirror glass. -> 667819 Removing and installing mirror glass - section on "Installing" 667819 Removing and installing mirror glass
2. Install rear-view mirror. -> 668919 Removing and installing rear-view mirror - section on "Installing"
