Symptoms

Rattling noises from around the rear seat.

Causes and remedial action

Rattling noises can be heard while driving due to tolerances between the rear seat and the crash-hook sealing surface.

In the event of a complaint, strips of tricot tape must be affixed near the crash hooks to remedy the situation on vehicles manufactured before the date of introduction November 2005.

Tools and materials

999.551.127.40 Tricot tape => Adhesive tape

Reworking the rear seat

1. Release rear seats -1, 2- and fold them up 90° -arrows-.

2. Cut eight strips of tricot tape each approx. 60 mm long.
3. Stick tricot tape -1- on the rear seats -2, 3- close to the cut-outs for the seat supports (crash hooks).

4. Fold rear seats -1, 2- down -arrows- and lock them.

5. Open and close the rear seat once and check that the tricot tape remains stuck securely to the seat support.
