Preliminary work

When does the engine have to be raised? =>
- Replacement engine is in the transport frame.
- Engine is secured to the mounting bracket.
- Engine is removed and placed on a pallet.
- Engine/transmission unit is removed and placed on the lifting platform.

DANGER

Suspended load.

- Risk of serious crushing and injury

-> Do not work at or under a suspended load.
-> Never reach in between the engine and components during installation or removal.
-> Wear protective safety gear.

DANGER

Danger of injury from incorrect use of tools and from falling loads.

- Danger of crushing from heavy loads.

-> When working on the engine suspension, the engine must be appropriately secured against falling or lowering.
-> Never use defective lifting equipment (bent or damaged tools must not be used or repaired. Always replace these tools). Check tools for signs of damage before use.
-> Only use lifting equipment tested and approved by Porsche. Home-made and auxiliary constructions result in improper use and are dangerous.
-> The transport eyebolt can only bear vertical traction with no side or transverse forces. Side loads (e.g. from chains or cables) will damage the transport eyebolt, which must then be replaced. Extreme cases of improper use can break the transport eyebolt.
-> Tools and lifting equipment must always be used properly. Improper use or dangerous home-made constructions can break tools and result in falling loads.
-> Wear protective gloves.

Information

- When removing the new engine from the transport frame, it may be necessary to raise the transport frame at the side (flat jack or similar). => Workshop crane and transport frame

- When removing the new engine from the transport frame, it may be necessary to safeguard the engine against lateral movement using a second worker and against scratching by covering it with a blanket.





Workshop crane and transport frame

1. Pull the design cover of the throttle valve straight up and off, if it is not already removed.
2. Engage one hook of the suspending device 3033 in the rear transport eyebolt on the engine. Engage the other hook of the suspending device at the front of the engine. Raise the workshop crane slightly and tension the spindles slightly. The suspending device must be adjusted evenly. => Workshop crane on the V8 engine

3. Carefully lift the engine and balance it or separate the engine from the transmission, depending on what you want to do.
