Air Flow Meter/Sensor: Service and Repair


WM 244519 Removing and installing air flow sensor

Technical values





Preliminary work

Boxster vehicles:
1. Move convertible top into service position.
-> 6101IN Convertible top in service position.

All vehicles:
2. Remove engine compartment lid. -> 557819 Removing and installing engine compartment lid - section on "Removing"

Removal

Removing mass air flow sensor

1. Remove rubber sleeve -1- between mass air flow sensor and throttle housing.
1.1. Open screw clips -2- and remove rubber sleeve.

2. Unlock and remove cable clip and also pull fuse and press the release.

3. Removing -1- mass air flow sensor
3.1. Open fastening clamps -3- and pull mass air flow sensor out of the air cleaner housing flange.
3.2. Lift mass air flow sensor up and out.

4. Replace sealing ring -1- on air cleaner housing flange.

Installation

Installing mass air flow sensor

1. Lightly grease sealing ring with Kluber Syntheso Glep.

2. Fit -1- mass air flow sensor
2.1. Push mass air flow sensor into air cleaner housing flange. Ensure that the seal is seated correctly.
2.2. Clip clamps -3- into place.
2.3. Connect cable plug -2- , close securing clip.

3. Plug in connector on mass air flow meter.
4. Fit rubber sleeve -1- between mass air flow sensor and throttle housing.
4.1. Position rubber sleeve -2- with screw-type hose clamps.
4.2. Tighten screw-type hose clamps.
=> Tightening torque: 3 Nm

Subsequent work

1. Install engine compartment lid. -> 557819 Removing and installing engine compartment lid - section on "Installing"

Boxster vehicles:
2. Close the hood.
-> 6101IN Convertible top in service position.
