WM 4X00IN Symptom: Brake noise (squealing)

Information

- The high-performance brake system is designed to achieve the best possible braking effect at all speeds and temperatures.

- This can result in brake noises, depending on speed, braking power and ambient conditions (e.g. temperature, air humidity).

- If a complaint (about brake noise) is received, this generally tends to occur when the vehicle is travelling slowly, for example just before the vehicle stops, when the brake pedal is pressed lightly.

Information on brake noise (squealing) and remedial action

Always observe the following points before carrying out remedial action in the event of complaints:
- Carry out repairs if concrete customer complaints are received.
- Normally, no action is required if brake noise (squealing) is heard sporadically. See also Information above in this case.
- General recommendation in the event of a complaint: Install new brake pads (current spare parts) (Refer to assignment in the Porsche Electronic Parts Catalogue (PET) and follow instructions in the repair information).
- Only in rare cases can brake noise be eliminated by replacing other brake components (e.g. replacing brake calipers). Such costly measures should only be carried out following consultation with the importer (in warranty cases) and/or the customer!

Brake noise (squealing)

- Equipment variant: Brake system with grey cast-iron brake discs or with PCCB brake discs (Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake)
