Symptom
The cut edge of the A-pillar trim may be visible in the inner door seal area and the A-pillar trim may be sticking up.

Cause
The cut edge at the top of the A-pillar trim may be visible and this may be sticking up due to component tolerances.
Date of introduction
An enhanced attachment concept has been used in production to correct this since 12.07.2010.
Remedial action
Replace existing A-pillar trim with a new A-pillar trim with a hook and separate holder.

Replacing A-pillar trim with hook and holder
1. Cut off the locking lug on the holder (separate spare part, No. 970.555.679/680.00) at the dotted line ( -inset- ).

3. Install new A-pillar trim with side hook:
Information
- The side hook ( -item 1- ) in the new A-pillar trim can become damaged.
The A-pillar trim must be bent up close to the side hook ( -item 1- ) during fitting ( -arrow- ).

3.1. Guide new A-pillar trim into the bracket ( -item 4- ) for the front side panel trim until it engages securely.

3.2. Slide holder in between the body, A-pillar and airbag close to the fastening point for the A-pillar trim ( -arrow- ).

3.3. Fit fixing clips ( -item 3- ) for the A-pillar trim into the cut-out and clip them in.

3.4. Position the holder ( -item 1- ) so that the oval bore is in front of the threaded bush.

3.5. Position pin on A-pillar trim ( -item 2- ) in the bore on the holder ( -item 3- ).
3.6. Position side hook on A-pillar trim ( -item 1- ) in the funnel on the holder ( -item 2- ).

3.7. Screw in fastening screw ( -item 2- ) => Tightening torque: 4.5 Nm (3 ftlb.).

3.8. Clip cap ( -item 1- ) into place.
3.9. Press lightly on the A-pillar trim close to the side hook until the hook locks in the funnel on the holder with an audible click.
