Eliminating Vibrations: Replacing Front Lid Seal (bonnet Vibrating/SY1809)

Symptom

The bonnet (close to the windscreen wipers) can start to vibrate visibly when the vehicle is driven at high speeds.

Cause, date of introduction and remedial action

Cause

Tolerances of the plenum panel flange and lack of preload on the rear part of the seal can cause visible vibrations of the bonnet.

14 October 2009, as of vehicle identification numbers.

Remedial action







In the event of a complaint, replace the rear part ( -item 1- ) of the front lid seal with a new seal with a "reinforcing layer".

970.511.612.00 previous/ditto (use up existing stock)

Replacing front lid seal

1. Remove rear part of front lid seal.
2. Install new rear part of front lid seal.
