Electronic Ignition Lock
Electronic Ignition Lock (EIL)
The basic system includes an immobilizer function in the key; the engine immobilizer release is sent from the electronic ignition lock (LIN slave) via the LIN bus to the front-end electrics (LIN master).
Key Anti-Removal Lock
After turning the key to the right from the "OFF" position to "Ignition (terminal 15)" or "Start engine (terminal 50)", the key is mechanically secured against removal from the electronic ignition lock. The key anti-removal lock is released by a solenoid when the key is turned back from the "Ignition (terminal 15)" position to the "OFF" position. If the vehicle battery is discharged, the key anti-removal lock can be deactivated in the "OFF" position via the mechanical emergency unlocking function.
In the second generation (Porsche Entry & Drive/KESSY), the control panel is inserted in the EIL instead of the vehicle key; the electrically adjustable steering column function has also been added.
