Rear Seat Entertainment System
Rear Seat Entertainment System (RSE)
The optional Porsche Rear Entertainment system is a new development compared with the existing system used in the Cayenne models. It consists of two display consoles, which are integrated into the backrests of the front seats and include integrated players, as well as two sets of wireless infrared headphones. They are equipped with swivelling, high-resolution 7-inch WVGA TFT displays.
The main advantage of the new system, besides the elegant integration of the two players in the display consoles, is the brand new touchscreen control feature. The vibration-proof system plays films on DVD as well as all current formats (e.g. CD, MP3, etc.). Each display console has a USB interface. The system also allows the connection of two separate, individually selectable AV sources, such as a game console, an iPod(R) or a digital camera. Using the crosslink function, it is possible to insert a disc into or connect a data carrier to one player and have the same film or data displayed on both players.
In addition, the optional TV tuner allows passengers in the rear to receive unencrypted analogue (PAL, Secam and NTSC) and digital (DVB-T) TV signals on the screens. Signals can also be received while driving, but the reception quality of the sound and picture signal depends on speed and local network coverage. It is also possible to play a DVD on one screen and watch TV on the other screen at the same time. The TV channel is always selected via the PCM.
