Installation position of rear spoiler

Information

- The rear spoiler extends at speeds of approximately 120 km/h and retracts again at approx. 80 km/h.

- The rear spoiler decreases drag and reduces rear-axle lift especially at higher speeds.

- The warning lights illuminate for a lamp check when the ignition is switched on. The warning lights in the instrument panel and the on-board computer light up if the rear spoiler does not extend or reach its end position.

1. With the ignition switched on, extend the rear spoiler manually using the rocker switch in the passenger compartment. Switch off ignition.
2. Carefully unclip the cover at the right and left -2- and take them out of the rear spoiler -1- ( -arrow- ).

3. Unscrew fastening nuts -2- in -direction of arrow A-.

4. Lift up rear spoiler -1- and remove it -arrows B-.

Installing rear spoiler

1. Position rear spoiler -1- at the spoiler drive -3- and align it -arrows A-.

2. Coat the fastening nuts -2- with Loctite 262.
3. Screw in the fastening nuts -2- ( -arrow B- ) so that the rear spoiler -1- can still be moved.
4. Adjust the rear spoiler.
4.1. With the ignition switched on, retract the rear spoiler by actuating the rocker switch in the passenger compartment. Switch off ignition.
4.2. Adjust the contours with respect to the rear lid and rear apron by moving the rear spoiler.

=> Gap dimension A: 4.5 mm

=> Gap dimension B: 2 mm

4.3. Adjust gap dimension B if necessary by screwing the lifter-rod adjusting screw at the left and right in [by max. three turns (approx. 3 mm)] or out -arrow-.

4.4. With the ignition switched on, extend the rear spoiler manually using the rocker switch in the passenger compartment. Switch off ignition.
5. Screw on fastening nuts on rear spoiler. => Tightening torque: 23 Nm (17 ftlb.)
6. Clip the cover at the right and left -2- into the rear spoiler -1- ( -arrow- ).

7. With the ignition switched on, retract the rear spoiler by actuating the rocker switch in the passenger compartment. Switch off ignition.
