Safety instructions for welding
Danger of injury when welding
WARNING
Electric welding
- Risk of electric shock or burns
-> Wear personal protective gear.
->Disconnect both battery terminals.
->Do not weld in a damp area or when it is wet under foot.
->Move highly inflammable materials out of the work area. Ventilate the work area well.
->Remove smoke gases with an extraction system.
->Read specific safety information for the welder.
->Check that welder is working perfectly before use.
Safety instructions for flying sparks during grinding and welding work
WARNING
Grinding and welding work
- Danger of fire or explosion
-> Avoid working in an area with highly inflammable or explosive materials.
->Cover highly inflammable or explosive areas.
->Remove highly inflammable or explosive parts.

Safety instructions for air conditioning
CAUTION
Danger of injury due to the filled air-conditioning system bursting!
- Danger of injury due to the filled air-conditioning system bursting during welding and brazing work!
- In the case of extreme heating of filled air-conditioning systems, a very strong overpressure may be caused in the system which may lead to an explosion.
-> No welding, braying or hot-air heating may be performed on parts of the filled air-conditioning system!
->While drying after painting work, the temperature burden on the vehicle must not exceed two hours at a maximum temperature of 80 °C!
->Make sure that parts of the air-conditioning system do not heat up during welding or brazing work on the vehicle!
Safety instructions for adhesive bonding
Danger of poisoning and injury when adhesive bonding
WARNING
Toxic substances
- Danger of poisoning or suffocation
-> Ventilate the work area well.
->Never ingest or inhale.
->Read specific information on the Hazard Sheet.
->Wear personal protective gear.
Safety instructions for Teromix-6700 two-component adhesive
NOTICE
Non-observance of setting time for adhesive
- Risk of damage to side panel
-> Weld in the new part within 30 minutes.
Safety instructions for installation work
Safety instructions for sharp-edged body and unit parts
CAUTION
Pointed or sharp objects
- Risk of cracks, pricks or cuts
-> Wear personal protective gear.
Safety instructions for airbag system
WARNING
Incorrect handling of airbag units
- Triggering of airbag unit
- System faults can occur
-> Switch off ignition and remove ignition key or remote control (hand-held transmitter).
->A voltage supply (e.g. battery charger) must not be connected to the external power supply/jump-lead starting terminals.
->Disconnect the battery and insulate the ground strap so that all contact with a ground carrier is avoided.
->Wait 1 minute after disconnecting the battery.
->Only detach connector on the triggering unit after the waiting time has elapsed.
->Make sure that no foreign objects are located in front of the airbag unit during installation.
->Replace damaged parts during removal.
->Always position airbag units so that the blow-out opening is facing upwards, e.g. crest on driver's airbag.
->Do not position anything on the airbag units.
->If removed for an extended period, the airbag units must be stored in a safe place.
->Airbag units must not come into contact with grease, oil, detergents, liquids, or similar substances.
->Do not expose airbag units to temperatures above 90°.
->Do not remove the short-circuit spring on the plug-in contacts.
->Ignition and preparations may only be carried out by skilled staff, supervised by a second responsible person.
->Before disposal, the airbag unit must be rendered harmless by electrical ignition performed in accordance with all precautionary measures, thereby preventing it from being used incorrectly.
Safety instructions for door
NOTICE
Door lock installed incorrectly
- Malfunctions in the alarm system
-> Only install the door lock when the actuating lever is at its basic position.
NOTICE
Plug connection loosened incorrectly when removing door
- Risk of damage to locking lugs on plug connection
-> Pull out the safety lock at the bottom of the plug connection before disconnecting the plug connection.
NOTICE
Door panel removed incorrectly
- Risk of damage to bowden cable
-> Pull the hook out of the end piece only after installation in the inner door release.
WARNING
Electrically moved components
- Danger of limbs being trapped or severed
-> Switch off electric power to drive motor.
->Make sure it does not switch on again.
->Check that there is no electric charge.
Safety instructions for corrosion protection
Safety instructions for plug location plan (body)
NOTICE
Removing stoppers
- Risk of corrosion
- Uncontrolled water leakage
-> Body apertures that are sealed with stoppers at the factory must be re-sealed with the stoppers provided following disassembly or repair work.
Safety instructions for water drains (body)
NOTICE
Water drain hoses not cleaned correctly
- Water drain hoses are pushed out or pressed into the body
-> When cleaning water drain hoses, only blow the hoses out with light compressed-air pressure.
->The water hoses should only be blown out when the sliding/tilting roof is closed.
Safety instruction for deformation element
WARNING
Damaged deformation elements
- Reduced accident protection
-> The deformation elements must not be repaired.
->Replace the deformation elements in the event of visible damage or pressure marks.
Possible separation points on inner side member
Information
Do not cut the side member in area -a-.
Cut the side member only in areas -b- and -c-.
Cuts must not obstruct the openings (holes in the side member).
Make cuts between the openings (holes in the side member).
Possible separation points on centre side member
Baked hardening
Information
Damaged or deformed body parts can impair torsional rigidity, flexional resistance and crash safety. Body parts can no longer be reshaped. Straightening and reshaping is not permitted. If a body part is damaged or deformed, it must be replaced.
The indicated body parts attain their final strength only through the temperature effects of the production stage of cathodic immersion painting and drying.
