Adjustment Values for Suspension Alignment
Vehicle height with steel springs - USA, with and without PASM
Information
- The following values relate to the curb weight, i.e. full fuel tank, vehicle with tyre repaire kit (or spare wheel collapsible wheel) and tools, but without driver and without additional weights.
- Tyre pressure in accordance with specifications.
- If the control unit or one of the self-leveling sensors has been replaced, calibration must be carried out using the Porsche System Tester.
Vehicle Height, Air Springs
Adjust vehicle to normal level:
- Stop vehicle and apply brake.
- Close vehicle doors.
- Adjust the vehicle to terrain level. To do this, tap the rocker switch on the centre console in the appropriate direction until the vehicle is set to terrain level.
- Get out and close the door. The vehicle switches to normal level.
- Deactivate the levelling system using the Porsche System Tester.
Do not get back in or out of the vehicle after setting to normal level for suspension alignment. This can give false alignment results.
Then adjust to the vehicle's normal level. The middle indicator light next to the rocker switch is permanently on. If a further indicator light should come on, a different level is set.
To avoid level adjustment of the air suspension during alignment, switch off the levelling system and switch it back on again when the work is complete.
Wheel Alignment Values, Steel Springs
Warning!!
Steering-angle sensor not calibrated or calibrated incorrectly
- Unexpected vehicle handling
- Steering-angle sensor does not function
- Malfunction in steering-angle sensor
- After working on wheel suspension parts, when replacing the steering-angle sensor and after changine the wheel alignment values, calibrate the steering-angle sensor using PIWIS Testor II 9818.
- Keep the front wheels in straight-ahead position on the measuring platform during calibration.
- Check the actual value of the steering-angle sensor after suspension alignment where no changes were made to the wheel alignment values.
Information
- The following values relate to the empty weight, i.e. full fuel tank, vehicle with spare wheel (collapsible wheel) and tools, but without drier and without additional weights.
- Tyre pressure in accordance with specifications.
- The toe-difference angle value is also influenced by the vehicle height. For this reason the measured result must be evaluated accordingly. No action is necessary in the case of small deviations from the toe-difference angle's required value as long as the value to the right and left is almost the same.
