Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.
Manuals through 2025 now available!

Our trusted friends have launched a new website named LEMON, which has newer manuals. It also contains all the CHARM manuals.

LEMON is the spiritual successor to CHARM, I recommend you try it!

Pick-Up Coil: Adjustments

Fig. 5 Rotor cam retaining screws. Solid state electronic ignition distributor:

The air gap must be adjusted after the sensor coil has been replaced.

1. Loosen screws, Fig. 5, then place feeler gauge between tip of sensor coil and rotor cam.
2. Adjust coil base at screw (6) until coil tip contacts feeler gauge.
3. Tighten both screws, then check for air gap clearance of .012-.024 inch (.3-.N mm) at all rotor cams. If proper adjustment cannot be obtained at any cam rotor, repair or replace distributor as necessary.
