Fast Idle Valve

The fast idle valve is used on Alliance and Encore models with 4-85 engine and operates an additional air circuit located in the throttle plate assembly to compensate for a decrease in idle speed due to operation of air conditioner or power steering pump. The fast idle valve is also operational when the starter motor is engaged. The solenoid valve opens the vacuum circuit behind the throttle plate when it is electrically activated by the compressor clutch, power steering pressure switch circuit, or ignition switch. This vacuum is applied to a pneumatic capsule which opens the additional air circuit. The diameter of this additional air circuit is .117 inch on all vehicles.
