Drive Axle, Hub & Wheel Bearings Replace
1. Position tool 8393209 under upper A-frame.
2. Loosen wheel nuts and raise and support vehicle.
3. Rotate brake disc so that recess in edge of disc lines up with brake pads.
4. Remove brake caliper and hang it to one side so that brake hose and pipe are not damaged.
5. Remove brake disc from hub.
6. Use tool 8995409 to remove the tie rod end from control arm.
7. Remove upper and lower ball joints in their respective A-frame. Pull vertical link and hub off driveshaft and A-frames.
8. Use tools 7841067, 8996456 and 8996449 to press off hub. Pull inner bearing race off hub using universal puller. If there are no recesses for puller, chisel off race.
9. Remove circlips from vertical link and press out bearing using tool Nos. 8390114, 8996456 and 8996449.
10. To assemble, lubricate bearing recess in steering knuckle housing with Molykote Paste G.
11. Use tools 8390114 and 8996464 to press in bearing up to circlip.
12. Fit outer circlip.
13. Use tool Nos. 8390114 and 8996464 to press hub into bearing.
14. Lubricate driveshaft splines with Molykote Paste G, install driveshaft into hub.
15. Replace steering knuckle housing by reinstalling the ball joints to upper and lower A-frames.
16. Install hub nut, brake disc, brake caliper and brake pads.
17. Install tie rod to control arm.
18. Install wheel, lower car and torque hub nut and wheel nuts. Lock hub by punching flange into stub axle groove.
19. Install hub cap and remove tool 8393209 from below upper A-frame.
