TO: ALL SAAB DEALERS

SUBJ: N.H.T.S.A./DOCKET NO. 70-12; NOTICE 25 TIRE REGISTRATION CARDS

On February 3, 1984 the Department of Transportation (DOT) National Highway Traffic Safety Administration issued Notice 25. This notice issues the final rules on tire registration on new tires sold to customers.

These Notice 25 rules went into effect on April 1, 1984 on all tire dealers. These rules are as follows:

1. Pirelli Tire Corporation being the importer of Pirelli Tires must supply you with the postcard size Pirelli Tire registration cards. (See enclosed cards).

2. At the time you sell Pirelli tires to a customer, you must fill in the shaded area of the card with the following:

a. Quantities of tire serial numbers
b. Your dealer name and address
c. Your account number

3. You must hand the card to the customer to fill in his name and address.

4. The customer either:

a. Puts a 13 cents postage stamp on the card and sends it into the Pirelli Tire Registry, or
b. Asks you as a dealer to send the card in as a dealer service. (We recommend that you send the card in.)
This registration is an extremely valuable protection for the customer. These registration cards are the only way customers can be located in case of a recall.

Should you require additional cards or have any questions about these cards, please contact your District Parts & Accessories Manager or District Service Manager.
