Test procedure

Note: In certain cases the fault code may be generated by spurious signals originating outside the car such as another vehicle or other external source of interference.

1 Clear the fault code and drive the car on test, if the fault code is generated afresh, first check the electrical connections to the battery and alternator.

The ignition system's interference suppression is of major importance in this connection. Therefore, check the interference suppression components like capacitors earthing connections, ignition cables, etc. Also check that the correct type of spark plug is fitted.

2 It no fault has been located, clear the fault code and test-drive the car again. If the fault code occurs once again, try another ASR control unit which is know to be OK.
