Disassembly

IMPORTANT: The two parts of the steering column are combined and should under no circumstances be drawn apart.

1 Remove the transverse bolt together with the handle and the washers.
2 Remove the universal joint from the steering column shaft.
3 Remove the circlip at the lower end of the steering column shaft.
4 Push the steering column shaft together so that it comes out of the lower bearing and take away the complete steering column shaft with the ignition switch mounting.
5 Remove the slides rails.
6 Drill out the blind rivets and remove the mounting for the facia.
7 Remove the bracket for the electronic carrier.
8 Remove the steering column shaft and the clip for the vacuum hose.
9 Drill out the blind rivets securing the angle beam and remove it together with the safety cable.
