Rear






REMOVAL
1. Suspend the engine from a lifting beam tool No. 83 94 850, or equivalent.
- Unplug the oxygen (Lambda) sensor connector, remove the cable clamp and clip.
2. Raise the car and remove the front wheels and spoiler sections.
- Undo the joint between the front exhaust pipe and intermediate pipe.
3. Unbolt the front exhaust pipe from the turbocharger.
- Remove the catalytic converter from its bracket and take down the exhaust pipe.
4. Remove the end piece, steering swivel member on both sides and rear engine mounting.
- Position a lifting table under the engine, raise the table, undo the other bolts and lower the sub-frame.
5. Remove the rear engine mounting.





INSTALLATION
1. Bolt the engine mounting to the gearbox, then tighten to: 39 Nm (29 lbs. ft).
2. Position the sub-frame and bolt it in place, then tighten as follows:
- Front bolts:115 Nm (85 ft. lbs.).
- Middle bolts:190 Nm (140.6 ft. lbs.).
- Rear bolts: 110 Nm + 75° (81.4 ft. lbs. + 75°).
3. Install the nuts securing the engine mounting to the sub-frame and tighten them, then tighten to: 39 Nm (29 lbs. ft).
4. Install the nuts securing the end pieces and tighten them, then tighten to: 75 Nm (55.5 lbs. ft).
5. Clean the exhaust pipe joints.
6. Install the bolt securing the catalytic converter to the bracket on the engine but do not tighten it.
- Bolt the front exhaust pipe to the turbocharger.
- Before assembly, apply Molykote 1000, or equivalent, to the threads on the turbocharger studs.
7. Tighten the bolt securing the catalytic converter to its bracket on the engine and bolt together the joint under the car.
8. Install the spoiler sections and road wheels, then tighten the wheel bolts to 120 Nm (89 ft. lbs.).
9. Lower the car to the floor and plug in the oxygen (Lambda) sensor connector.
- Install the cable clamp and clip.
10. Remove the lifting beam.
