Gear Selector Position Sensor, Starting Interlock System

On cars with automatic transmission, the starting interlock switch (77) is integrated with the gear selector position sensor.

Pins 1 and 5 of Me switch (77) are used to control the starting relay.

Connector pin 1 is supplied with battery voltage (B+) from fuse 36. On cars with an anti-theft alarm, current is supplied via the anti-theft alarm control module.

In the P and N positions, switch 77 is closed and battery voltage (B+) is supplied to the starting relay.

In all other gear positions the starting interlock switch is open and no current is supplied to the starting relay.
