Removal

NOTE: Precondition: gear case removed.

1. Remove the five screws of the seal holder and remove the seal holder by tapping with a drift from the backside.
- Put the shims, screws and seal holder in a safe place.
2. Press out the sealing ring with driver tube tool No. 87 91 311 and sleeve tube tool No. 87 92 236, or equivalent.




3. Remove the O-ring with a small screwdriver or similar.





Installation

1. Press the sealing ring, using driver tube tool No. 87 90 859 and driver ring tool No. 83 90 312, or equivalent, until it makes contact.
- Use sleeve tube as support.




2. Grease and carefully install a new O-ring.
3. Install the sealing ring with Shell Grease 1344 LIEP II or equivalent lubricant.




4. Screw the seal holder and its shims in position. Tighten alternately to 20-24 Nm (14.5-17.5 ft. lbs.).
- Adjust the bearing pre-stress (refer to the Assembly procedure).
