+B Power Supply Circuit, No Self-Immobilizing Not Functioning






Fault symptom
No immobilizing 30 seconds after the ignition key has been removed.

Condition
No +B power supply from the ignition switch Self-immobilizing takes place after 3 minutes.

Diagnostic help
The ignition switch's +B contact can be checked by removing the ignition key, which should cause the interior lighting to come on.







Diagnostic procedure
1 Check the VSS programming
- Connect an ISAT scan tool.
- Select "THEFT ALARM".
- Select "PROGRAMMING".
- Select "SELF-IMMOBILIZING".
- Check "TIME BEFORE ACTIVE".
Is the time displayed correct?
[YES] Continue with point 2.
[NO] Program the relevant time according to current market requirements.







2 Check the +B power supply
- Unplug connector H33-3.
- Connect the test lamp to pin 1 of connector H33-3 and a good grounding point.
- Carry out the following test sequence:
- Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position.
- Turn the ignition switch to the "OFF" position.
- Remove the ignition key.
The test lamp should not light up when the ignition key has been removed.
Did the test lamp go out?
[YES] Continue with point 3.
[NO] Check and if necessary repair or replace the wiring between pin 1 of connector H33-3 and the ignition switch. If the wiring is OK, continue fault diagnosis as described in Service Manual 3:2 "Electrical system, +15 power supply".







3 Check the wiring connected to the VSS electronic control module
Check the wiring harness for continuity between pin 1 of connector H33-3 and pin 9 of the VSS electronic control module.
Is the wiring OK?
[YES] Continue with point 4.
[NO] Repair or replace the wiring harness.

4 Final test
Start the car and check to see if the fault symptom persists.
Does the trouble persist?
[YES] Continue as described in "Before Changing The Electronic Control Module".
[NO] The remedial measures taken were correct or the fault is of intermittent nature.
