Checking the Sid (Saab Information Display)

Fault Symptom

No messages on the SID unit.

Diagnostic Procedure





1 Connect an ISAT Scan Tool and activate "SID MESSAGES". Check that the message selected with the Scan Tool is displayed on the SID unit.

2 Contact the SID unit with the ISAT Scan Tool and read "MESSAGES FROM TSAS" if no message is displayed on the SID unit. Simulate a message by opening the boot lid, for instance, and then trying to operate the hood. If the correct message is displayed on the Scan Tool but not on the SID unit, the SID unit is probably incorrectly programmed and should be reprogrammed by means of the Scan Tool. If the fault persists after reprogramming, change the SID unit.

3 If no message is displayed on the ISAT scan tool, check the lead between pin 11 (K42) of the TSAS unit and pin 5 of the SID unit for continuity/shorting.
