Malfunction Indicator Lamp - A/T: Testing and Inspection
Fault Symptom.
The lamp does not light up or lights up and stays on constantly. Note that the CHECK GEARBOX indicator lamp is tested for 3 seconds when the ignition switch is turned to the ON position.
Procedure.
1. Check the lamp
- Connect the ISAT scan tool.
- Select "ACTIVATE".
- Select "CHECK GEARBOX".
Does the lamp work?
YES: Proceed to point 3.
NO: Change the bulb, and continue with point 2.
2. Check The Wiring
Check The Wiring between pin 6 of the transmission control module and pin 10 (low spec.) or pin 28 (high spec.) of the main instrument display panel for continuity or shorting.
Is the wiring OK?
YES: Continue with point 3.
NO: Repair or replace the wiring and continue with point 3.
3. Final check
Check the lamp, using an ISAT scan tool.
Does the lamp work?
YES: The remedial action taken was correct.
NO: Continue as described under "Before Changing A Control Module". Before Changing A Control Module
