Changing the Complete Clutch
Removing The Clutch And Inspecting It After Removal
1. Remove the gearbox, refer to Manual Transmission/Transaxle, Service and Repair.
2. Fit the flywheel locking attachment 83 94 86 to secure the flywheel.
3. Remove the screws securing the pressure plate and remove the clutch.
4. Check the driven plate mating surface on the flywheel. Blueing or minor cracking of the surface is not serious. However, if their are deep cracks, the flywheel should be machined or changed.
5. Check the pressure plate for cracks or distortion. If it is uneven, it should be changed.
6. Check the release bearing for noise, wear and the like.
7. Check driven plate wear and change if necessary.
To Fit
1. Place the driven plate and pressure plate on the flywheel and loosely fit the screws.
2. center the driven plate with centering drift 87 92 32141 and tighten the bolts alternately.
Tightening torque 22 Nm (16 ft. lbs.)
3. Remove flywheel locking attachment 83 94 868
4. Fit the gearbox.
Lubricate the primary shaft splines
