Oil Pump: Service and Repair

Oil pump

To remove
1. Remove the Timing cover.
2. Remove the oil pump bolts. Lift off the cover and take out the pinions.

Important
Note the marks on the gears.





3. Remove the oil pressure valve. Maintain a grip when unscrewing the plug so that it does not fall away.





4. Remove the spring and the piston.

To fit
1. Fit the oil pump pinions. The markings on the pinions must be turned to the timing cover. Lubricate the pinions with engine oil.





2. Fit the oil pump cover.
Tightening torque 6 Nm (4 ft. lbs.)





3. Fit the oil pressure valve with the piston and the spring. Replace the gasket.
Tightening torque 40 Nm (29 ft. lbs.)





4. Fit the Timing cover.
