C0551 ABS Important Information

Subject: ABS Light on DTC C0551 after Replacing the EBCM

Models: 2002-2006 Saturn VUE

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:
The ABS light is on with DTC C0551 "Option Configuration Error" stored in the EBCM. This concern will happen after the EBCM has been replaced. There are multiple EBCMs, dependant upon Engine/Transmission and AWD vs. FWD. The use of the wrong P/N EBCM for this application will result in the C0551 code setting.

Recommendation/Instructions:
Verify the correct EBCM has been installed in this vehicle. For further assistance with looking up the correct parts, contact the Parts Assistance Center at 800-828-2112. Canadian dealers will need to fax a Partech request to 877-441-4985.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
