Condition

Some customers may comment that the vehicle is hard to start, stalls after being started, or does not start at all. There may also be comments of intermittent front lamp concerns.

Cause

The left forward lamp ground splice pack (G101) nut may be loose or missing. This ground splice pack provides the ground for the following components: Horn, DRL Resistor, Fog Lamps, Park/Turn Signal Lamps, Marker Lamps, Cooling Fans, A/C Clutch, Cooling Fan Relay, Wiper System Relay, Power Window Relay, A/C Diode, and Fuel Pump Relay.

Correction

Use the procedure in this bulletin to verify the nut for ground splice pack G101 is present and tight. The ground is located on the left front motor rail below the headlamp assembly as shown in the illustration.

Procedure

1. Remove left (driver's side) headlamp.

2. Manually grab splice pack and try to rotate to verify tightness.

3. If splice pack is loose, tighten nut so splice pack will not rotate.

Tighten

Tighten nut 10 Nm (89 in-lbs).

4. If nut is missing, install new nut, P/N 21006316.

5. If splice pack is not loose, continue to diagnose initial condition.

6. Reinstall left (driver's side) headlamp.
