EGR Control Solenoid: Service and Repair

EGR Components.:







CAUTION: On vehicles equipped with a SIR system, disable the SIR system. SEE SERVICE PRECAUTIONS/ VEHICLE DAMAGE WARNINGS/ DISABLING-ENABLING THE SIR SYSTEM.


REMOVAL

1. Disconnect negative battery cable.


2. Remove air intake tube and resonator.

3. Remove electrical connector from EGR solenoid.

4. Remove EGR solenoid attachment bolt and EGR solenoid.


INSTALLATION

1. Install EGR solenoid and attachment bolt.
^ Torque: 10 Nm (89 in lbs)

2. Connect EGR vacuum tubes.

NOTE: Make sure that hoses are firmly seated. Check for vacuum leaks after assembly.

3. Connect electrical connector to EGR solenoid. Push in connector until a click is heard and pull back to confirm a positive engagement.


4. Install intake tube and resonator.

5. Connect negative battery cable.

CAUTION: On vehicles equipped with a SIR system, enable the SIR system. SEE SERVICE PRECAUTIONS/ VEHICLE DAMAGE WARNINGS/ DISABLING-ENABLING THE SIR SYSTEM.
