Air Temperature Sensor ( Ambient / Intake ): Service and Repair


Air Temperature Sensor. (SOHC Engines):






REMOVAL

CAUTION: On vehicles equipped with a SIR system, disable the SIR system. SEE SERVICE PRECAUTIONS/ VEHICLE DAMAGE WARNINGS/ DISABLING-ENABLING THE SIR SYSTEM.

1. Disconnect negative battery cable.

2. Remove fasteners and rotate the air inlet tube to access the inlet air temperature sensor. Refer to FUEL SUPPLY AND AIR INDUCTION for removal procedures.

3. Disconnect electrical connector from inlet air temperature sensor.

NOTE: The connector must be removed by squeezing the sides. Apply pressure to sides of connector gently with pliers. Do not pull on wires.

4. Remove air inlet temperature sensor using a deep well 13 mm socket.

INSTALLATION

1. Install air inlet temperature sensor.
^ Torque: 5 Nm (44 in lbs)

2. Connect electrical connector to the air inlet temperature sensor. Push in on connector until a click is heard and pull back to confirm a positive engagement.

3. Install air inlet tube.

4. Connect negative battery cable.

CAUTION: On vehicles equipped with a SIR system, enable the SIR system. SEE SERVICE PRECAUTIONS/ VEHICLE DAMAGE WARNINGS/ DISABLING-ENABLING THE SIR SYSTEM.
