DTC 19

Diagnostic Chart:

Diagnostic Chart (Cont'd):

Circuit Schematic:

6X SIGNAL FAULT
The 6X output signal is a five volt square wave that is initially high. The signal switches low at each of the six, 60 degrees crankshaft position (CKP)sensor pulses. The 6X signal is used by the PCM for greater rpm resolution and in determining KS circuit (system) (knock retard) windowing. This signal is also used by the tachometer and is at the Underhood Junction Block (UHJB).

DTC PARAMETERS

DTC 19 will set if:
^ Three 6X pulses do not occur between each reference pulse.
^ A 6X pulse does not immediately follow a reference pulse.

DIAGNOSTIC AIDS
When attempting to diagnose an intermittent problem, use the Scan tool[1] to review supplemental diagnostic information. The supplemental data can be used to duplicate a problem.

Intermittents or opens suspected to be at the connector can be detected by using Diagnostic Service Probe.

Voltage can be read on wires without disconnecting any connectors.

Check the tightness of the female terminal grip with a spare male terminal.

[1]Select Malfunction History from Scan tool Engine Control (EC) menu.
