Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.
Manuals through 2025 now available!

Our trusted friends have launched a new website named LEMON, which has newer manuals. It also contains all the CHARM manuals.

LEMON is the spiritual successor to CHARM, I recommend you try it!

Splice Packs

IMPORTANT: Cavity references for splice pack wires on schematics may differ between a vehicle and manufacturing constraints of the wire harness.

Splice packs are used to replace conventional soldered and clipped splices. The splice pack consists of a row of males blades that standard, crimped-on, female terminals plug into. A plastic cover is then placed over the buss bar to retain it and electrically insulate the splice from surrounding cable. This concept improves the reliability of vehicle wiring splices.

Some of the ground splice pack buss bars have an integral ring terminal used to connect the splice pack directly to the body of the vehicle (instead of using a wire going from the splice pack and then being terminated with a ring terminal.)

Another type of splice pack used is called an Insulation Displacement Connector (IDC) splice pack. The IDC uses only one metal part and a plastic cover.
