Lock Rod/Handle Rod Replacement - Rear Door

Removal Procedure





1. Remove the door trim panel. Refer to Door Trim Panel - Rear removal procedure .
2. Remove the water deflector carefully by peeling back the edges.




3. Remove the speaker to allow access to the recover retainer pin.





Important: Place a rag inside the door cavity to catch the retainer pin from the bell crank removal.


4. Use an awl to force the bell crank retaining pin out, toward the outside of the door.
5. Remove the bell crank pivot.
6. Unhook the lock rods from the bell crank.




7. Roll the window up.
8. Remove the rear window run channel.




9. Remove the rear lock rod from the latch mechanism.



Installation Procedure





1. Install the rear lock rod to the latch mechanism.





Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

2. Install the rear window run channel and tighten the bolts.

Tighten the rear window run channel bolts to 10 N.m (89 lb in).





3. Hook the lock rods to the bell crank pivot.
4. Install the bell crank and pivot pin.




5. Remove the rag from the speaker area.
6. Install the speaker.





Important: Replace the water deflector if damaged.


7. Install the water deflector to the previous holes and position.
8. Verify the correct operation of the rear door lock rod.
9. Install the door trim panel. Refer to Door Trim Panel -
