Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.
Manuals through 2025 now available!

ECM/PCM Interaction With Traction Control

The EBTCM is the "master" of the traction control system. It communicates with the ECM/PCM through torque requested and torque delivered signals. When wheel slip is detected the EBTCM will send a torque requested signal to the ECM/PCM to reduce engine torque. The ECM/PCM will reduce engine torque and send this torque reduction signal back to the EBTCM. If wheel slip is still present the EBTCM and ECM/PCM will continue to send these signals back and forth until wheel slip is under control
