Restraint System

This Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) helps supplement the protection offered by the seat belts by deploying air bags during certain frontal crashes. The air bags deploy when the vehicle is involved in a frontal crash of sufficient force up to 30 degrees left or right of the vehicle centerline. To further absorb crash energy, there are knee bolsters located beneath the instrument panel for both the driver and passenger. Additionally, the steering column is collapsible.
