The purpose of this bulletin is to provide service information about identifying oil filter elements used on L61 and L81 engines.
When performing an oil change on an L-Series vehicle, refer to the information in this bulletin to ensure oil filter element is for the correct engine application. If the incorrect oil filter element is used, engine damage will occur.
Saturn Service Parts Operations (SSPO) is in the process of adding the engine application to the label on the L-Series oil filter element boxes to help avoid any further confusion. Until the box changes take effect, it is essential to verify the correct part number based on the engine application. Refer to the information in this bulletin to determine the differences between the two L-Series oil filter elements.
