Surge Tank to Pipe Hose

Removal





1. Drain cooling system as directed in "Engine Coolant Check and Replacement."
2. Remove heater return pipe from hold down clamps.
3. Remove heater return pipe-to-thermostat housing clamp and hose.
4. Remove clamp and hose from coolant surge tank.





5. Lift pipe and use hacksaw to cut crimp ring on coolant bottle hose.

NOTICE: Cut only deep enough to separate crimp ring. Take care not to cut pipe.

IMPORTANT: When cutting crimp ring, cut at 30 degree angle to centerline of hose.

6. Use a flat head screwdriver to separate ring from hose.
7. Remove hose and ring from pipe.

Installation





1. Install new clamp on hose.
2. Install hose on pipe. Position clamp at 3 o'clock.





3. Install hose and clamp on coolant bottle. Position clamp at 1 o'clock.
4. Install thermostat housing hose and clamp on heater return pipe. Position clamp tangs at 1 o'clock.
5. Install pipe on hold down clamps.
6. Fill cooling system and leak test as directed in "Engine Coolant Check and Replacement."
