CAMSHAFT COVER REPLACEMENT-FRONT
(IN-VEHICLE)

REMOVAL





1. Disconnect negative battery cable.
2. Remove intake plenum.





3. Remove intake manifold.
4. Disconnect camshaft position sensor electrical connection.





5. Remove ignition module.
6. Remove oil filler cap.





7. Remove lift bracket.
8. Remove camshaft cover bolts.
9. Remove camshaft cover.





10. Remove camshaft cover seals.

IMPORTANT: Ensure all eight sealing O-rings are accounted for. The O-rings may stick to the camshaft bearing caps or they may fall into the oil pan.

11. Clean camshaft cover.
12. Clean sealing surfaces.

INSTALLATION

IMPORTANT: The intake camshaft is marked with the letter "A" and the exhaust camshaft is marked with the letter "E "





1. Lightly coat new seals, including O-rings, with engine oil prior to installation to assist in holding O-ring seals to camshaft cover.
2. Install camshaft cover seals.





3. Apply a thin coat of Loctite 5900 or equivalent on front and rear of camshaft cover as shown in figure as the shaded areas.
4. Install camshaft cover to the cylinder head.
5. Install camshaft cover bolts.
Torque:
Camshaft Cover Bolts: 8 Nm (71 inch lbs.)
6. Install oil filler cap.
7. Install lift bracket.
Torque:
Engine Lift Bracket Bolts: 8 Nm (71 inch lbs.)





8. Install ignition module.
Torque:
Ignition Module Bolt: 8 Nm (71 inch lbs.)
9. Connect crankshaft position sensor electrical connection.
10. Install intake manifold.
11. Install intake plenum.
12. Connect negative battery cable. Start engine and inspect for oil leaks.
