Transaxle Strut Bracket

TRANSAXLE STRUT BRACKET

REMOVAL

1. Remove transaxle strut.
2. On vehicles equipped with a manual transaxle:





2.1. Disconnect negative battery cable from battery.
2.2. Disconnect positive battery cable from battery.
2.3. Remove hold-down retaining nut and screw, and lift off battery hold-down retainer.
2.4. Lift battery out of vehicle, and place in a safe location.





3. Remove the two bracket-to-transaxle fasteners and remove bracket.

INSTALLATION
1. Position bracket to the transaxle and install fasteners.
Torque: Transaxle Bracket Fastener: 54 Nm (40 ft. lbs.)
2. On vehicles equipped with a manual transaxle:
2.1. Make sure battery tray is clean.
2.2. Make sure that battery cable ends are clean and free of corrosion. (Clean with a wire brush.)
2.3. Make sure that battery is in good physical condition (e.g., no cracks, or obvious damage) and that terminals are clean.
2.4. Install battery carefully in battery tray; make sure that terminals do not short against any metal during, installation.





2.5. Install battery hold-down retainer, locking battery into tray. Install and tighten hold-down retainer nut and screw.
Torque: Battery Hold Down Fasteners: 9 Nm (80 inch lbs.)
2.6. Install positive battery cable first.
Torque: Battery Terminal Bolts: 17 Nm (13 ft. lbs.)
2.7. Install negative battery cable last.
Torque: Battery Terminal Bolts: 17 Nm (13 ft. lbs.)
3. Install transaxle strut.
