ONStar(R) System - Cannot Send/Receive Cellular Calls

SUBJECT:
OnStar(R) System is Unable to Send or Receive Cellular Phone Calls and Cannot Connect to Call Center (Perform "Preferred System Setting" Procedure)

MODELS AFFECTED:

^ 2002 L-Series vehicles equipped with OnStar(R) (RPO UE1)

^ 2002 VUE vehicles equipped with OnStar(R) (RPO UE1)

CONDITION:

Some vehicles may be unable to send or receive cellular phone calls and cannot connect to the OnStar(R) Call Center following a disconnected ("dropped") cellular phone call during an OnStar(R) configuration attempt. When calling the OnStar(R) Call Center, an "unable to contact OnStar(R) message will be heard. If any other message is heard. If any other message is heard, this bulletin does not apply.

CAUSE:

This condition may be caused by an internal software error.

CORRECTION:

Use the following procedure to reset the OnStar(R) communications and interface module (CIM).

ONSTAR(R) COMMUNICATIONS AND INTERFACE MODULE (CIM) RESET PROCEDURE:

1. Perform the "Preferred System Setting" procedure found in the "OnStar Special Functions" menu of the scan tool.

1.1 Highlight option line "B, then A" (if not already highlighted).

1.2 Press "Enter" to put an asterisk next to the option (if the asterisk isn't already present).

1.3 Press the "Save Options" key.

2. Once the "Preferred System Setting" procedure has been performed, move the vehicle outdoors and contact the OnStar Call Center to have the system configured.
