Liftgate Latch Replacement

Removal Procedure




1. Remove the liftgate pull handle plugs.
2. Remove the fasteners and liftgate pull handle.
3. Remove the liftgate trim panel retainers.
4. Remove the trim panel.
5. Remove the two electrical connectors.
6. Remove the liftgate latch assembly retaining bolts.
7. Pull down into view.
8. Disconnect the latch cable from the latch assembly by using a small screwdriver to disengage the clip.
9. Remove the latch assembly.

Installation Procedure

1. Reconnect the latch cable to the latch assembly.
2. Position the latch assembly in the liftgate and install onto the lock cylinder assembly.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

3. Install the liftgate latch-to-liftgate bolts.

Tighten the Liftgate Latch-to-Liftgate Bolts to 10 Nm (89 lb in).

4. Install the electrical connectors.
5. Position the liftgate trim panel to the liftgate.
6. Secure the liftgate trim panel to structure by pushing at retainer locations.
7. Install the trim panel retainers.
8. Install the liftgate pull handle using fasteners.

Tighten the liftgate pull handle fasteners to 5 Nm (44 lb in).

9. Install the liftgate pull handle plugs.
