48. Cylinder Head Installation

CYLINDER HEAD (UNIT REPAIR) INSTALLATION

TOOLS REQUIRED
- SA9140E Torque Angle Gauge

INSTALLATION

IMPORTANT: Do not use any sealing material.





1. Install cylinder head gasket to block.
2. Install cylinder head.

IMPORTANT: Always use new cylinder head bolts.

3. Lightly apply clean engine oil to threads and bottom side of flange of head bolt and allow oil to drain before installing.

Cylinder Head Tightening Sequence:

4. Cylinder head bolt tightening procedure:
4.1. In sequence, torque the cylinder head bolts using Torque Angle Gauge SA9140E (or equivalent).
Torque:
Cylinder Head Bolts: 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs.) + 155 degrees

Cylinder Head Front Chaincase Bolts:

5. Install front cylinder head bolts.
Torque:
Cylinder Head Front Bolts: 35 Nm (26 ft. lbs.)
6. Install the EGR cover, bolts, and EGR cover gasket.
Torque:
EGR Cover Bolts: 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.)
