Transaxle Fluid Checking Procedure

TRANSAXLE FLUID CHECKING PROCEDURE
It is not necessary to check fluid level unless fluid has been changed or a leak is suspected.

CAUTION: MAKE SURE VEHICLE IS PROPERLY SUPPORTED AND SQUARELY POSITIONED ON THE HOIST. TO HELP AVOID PERSONAL INJURY WHEN A VEHICLE IS ON A HOIST, PROVIDE ADDITIONAL SUPPORT FOR THE VEHICLE ON THE OPPOSITE END FROM WHICH COMPONENTS ARE BEING REMOVED.

1. Raise vehicle. The vehicle must be level.

CAUTION: IF THE TRANSAXLE FLUID IS HOT, CAUTION MUST BE TAKEN TO PREVENT PERSONAL INJURY IN THE EVENT TRANSAXLE FLUID DOES DRAIN FROM THE LEVEL PLUG HOLE AFTER THE PLUG IS REMOVED.





2. Remove transaxle fluid level plug (2).
3. Check fluid level. The fluid level should be even with the bottom of plug hole.

IMPORTANT: It will be necessary to use a funnel with a flexible hose or a hand pump to add fluid to transaxle.

4. If fluid level is low, add manual transaxle lubricant (P/N 21018899) to level plug hole (2) until fluid starts to drain out.
5. Allow fluid to finish draining from plug hole. Apply thread sealant (P/N 21485278) to level plug and install. Wipe any excess fluid from transaxle with a rag or shop towel.
Torque:
Fluid Level Check and Fill Plug: 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.)
