Onstar Interface (Optional)

The optional OnStar communications system uses the radio speakers for incoming voice communications. The OnStar Communications Interface Module (CIM) connects to left and right radio audio inputs and to a discrete radio mute through the 12-way connector at the back of the radio.

When an incoming OnStar call is active, the radio disables the current radio mode (including Off), and outputs the On Star audio to the vehicle radio speakers at a pre-determined volume and balance level. When the OnStar call becomes inactive, the radio returns to the previous mode or Off, depending on its prior state.

The optional OnStar communications system is available with AM/FM stereo with cassette and in-dash single CD player or AM/FM stereo with cassette and in-dash 6-disc CD player.
