Engine Removal
ENGINE REMOVAL1. Remove battery.
2. Remove intake air cleaner.
3. Disconnect MAF connector.
4. Remove battery ground cable at wheel housing.
5. Remove positive main feed cable at fuse block.
6. Disconnect TCM main connector under cowl cover and secure to engine.
7. Disconnect TCM inline connector located near the brake master cylinder.
8. Disconnect A/C pressure connector.
9. Remove fuse block.
9.1. Remove fuse block cover.
9.2. Disconnect BLACK engine harness connector under fuse block panel.
9.3. Remove lower weather-pack connector inside fuse block.
9.4. Secure engine harness to top of engine.
9.5. Remove fuse block mounting bolts.
9.6. Remove fuse block and secure away from engine.
10. Remove battery tray.
11. Disconnect EVAP purge connector.
12. Disconnect right front speed sensor connector and secure to top of engine.
13. Disconnect front 02 sensor from down pipe.
14. Disconnect the following electrical connections:
14.1. Transaxle ground.
14.2. Transaxle main connector.
14.3. Transaxle shift control.
14.4. Rear connector on ECM.
15. Remove brake booster vacuum hose.
16. Relieve fuel pressure.
17. Disconnect fuel lines and secure away from engine.
18. Disconnect EVAP purge hose at EVAP purge solenoid.
19. Raise vehicle.
20. Remove starter.
21. Remove torque converter bolts.
22. Drop exhaust system from catalytic converter forward.
23. Disconnect transaxle nose bracket.
24. Remove A/C compressor mounting bolts and secure to frame rail.
25. Drain engine coolant.
26. Disconnect heater hoses at lower cowl.
27. Disconnect lower engine to transaxle bell housing bolts. Do not remove upper bolts at this time.
28. Lower vehicle.
29. Remove main hose to coolant reservoir from engine inlet adapter.
30. Remove lower radiator hose from engine.
31. Remove upper radiator hose from engine.
32. Drain power steering fluid by removing small hose from under reservoir.
33. Disconnect metal power steering line.
34. Disconnect power steering reservoir from radiator support and secure to top of engine.
35. Attach engine lift hoist to lift hooks on engine and support engine weight.
36. Remove right front engine mount from wheel housing.
37. Remove engine mount bracket from engine.
38. Remove upper bell housing bolts.
39. Lift engine out of vehicle.
