A/C System R-134a Refrigerant Ultra Violet (UV) Dye Usage

MODELS AFFECTED:

All 2000-2003 Model Year Saturn Vehicles except 2000-2001 L-Series up to and including VIN 1Y509125 equipped with Air Conditioning (RPOC60 or RPOC68).

PURPOSE:

All vehicles produced by Saturn Corporation have Ultra Violet (UV) dye added to the R-134a refrigerant system during the assembly process. The PAG oil is the UV dye carrier and circulates the dye in the system. As long as all the PAG oil has not escaped from the system the dye will still be present. IF the R-134a refrigerant is evacuated or is lost due to a leak the dye still remains in the system. Adding dye to the A/C system is not necessary.
